I am nearing completion of a series of short stories compiled by young authors describing their personal experiences and moments that have changed their lives.
This moving and at times humorous book called “Chicken Soup for the Pre-teen soul” was rated # 1 on the New York Times bestselling authors category in 2000 and is to this day, still an increasingly popular series for all ages.
I myself agree, that is is hard being at the age where we are no longer kids, but not yet teenagers. We want to have rights and responsibilities, yet we are not ready to accept the roles of adults. At times it may feel as if we are all alone, and with mounting frustrations we find ourselves leaning towards the need to rebel. At this point it is important to take a step back ,and remember that there are always others facing similar issues. Eventually we all cope and learn to confront our problems in order to live up to our dreams.
This excellent book is dedicated to all who struggle to rise above the day-to-day madness. Just remember, all obstacles as large as they may seem, will help strengthen you through the exciting and challenging years on the path to adulthood.

I strongly recommend this book “Voices” to Dayna as it is a captivating novel about love, friendship and trust.
This romance by Sue Mayfield is written in first person. It is set on a small island off the coast of Scotland and is about the life of a young girl named Isabel Bright..
Whilst on holiday, Isabel was looking out her bedroom window when she noticed a small figure bobbing up and down in the soft waves of the ocean. She ran outside, rolled up her pants and as she splashed through the water, soon realised that the small figure was in fact, a clear green bottle with a message inside. After carefully examining the slightly sodden message, Isabel decided to relpy to the sender. Little did she know that this discovery would lead her to a memorable journey she would carry with her for years to come…
Isabel soon forms a close bond with the sender, a young boy named Duncan from America. Isabel and Duncan help each other overcome issues they are both experiencing and continue to be “pen pals” as they call themselves.
One day unexpectadely, Isabel recieves a letter from Duncan’s mum, advising her that Duncan had been involved in a horrible boating accident, and at this point, rescuers were still unable to locate his body…
This story of courage and love is a recommended choice for all readers.

Jacqueline Wilson’s page-turning novel “The Illustrated Mum” is a compelling and unpredictable book, appealing to readers of all ages.
It is filled with continuous adventure and drama, and by reading it, I found myself gaining a clearer insight into the challenges that people face when confronted by their weaknesses.
This book is written in first person, and is set in the slums of New York City.
It is a story about two girls named Star and Dolphin who were adopted by a woman named Marigold. Marigold cared for the girls to the best of her ability but at times, found her late night partying and drinking addiction would take control of her, and as a result, the girls built up resentment towards their mother. They often found themselves playing the role of the caretaker, as Marigold was unable to focus on her responsibilities as a mother.
Jacqueline Wilson’s descriptive use of vocabulary helps create detailed visions of each character and easily guides you through every chapter, engaging the reader to carry on.
This touching storyline is true to life and I believe it may help those who are experiencing similar issues.
I strongly recommend this book to Ms. Clifford, as it is a sensitive and gripping portrayal of one families unfortunate journey through life… a must read for all.

There is one book in particular that i would like to share with you. It is called “Black like me” and is about a white man who travels to south africa and paints his face black, living life as a black man and finding out how discriminated they are and how they are treated differently. I think it is very sad because everyone should have their own rights no matter what race they are or even who they are. Everyone is the same in at least one way or another and some poeple shouldnt be any less valued than others.

Hello!
At the moment, i am reading a book called “Jane Blonde”. It is about an ordinary girl named Janey Brown who just moved to a new school and has not made any friends. Other children in her class are very mean to her and like to play horrible tricks on her. One morning when she arrived in the changing rooms to discover that someone had melted her sneakers, an odd lady appeared behind her unannounced and told her that her mum was in a whole heap of trouble and it was up to Janey to save her. This is a wild story about imagination, creativity and trust. I highly recomend it to people who like action-packed adventure books.

This blog is about my most memorable experiences living in a foreign country and also the goals i wish to fulfill in the future. Let me first begin with my goals. There are many goals i want to achieve, but the most important are the ones that will help me grow into a person that is more aware and caring for the environment. Ever since i heard about Global warming and the animals that were being effected by this, my heart set out to make a difference and give them a better chance of survival. As an example, I really hope to travel the world to help animals that are on the brink of becoming extinct, such as tigers, gorillas, penguins, whales etc. in any way I can. Global Warming is something that we humans have created and I feel very upset and also very sad that innocent creatures have to suffer because of this . Another goal I have is to continue to improve my writing skills and hopefully this will lead to a rewarding career for me in the future. I really love to put my thoughts down in writing! My family is very important to me , so another goal I have is to share good times with my family and make sure they live a happy life filled with many great memories they will never forget for years to come. Now I want to share some memorable experiences in my life so far. I have been very privileged that i have been given the opportunity to have been brought up in two very different cultures, that is , Western and Asian. I have gained and grown in many ways by living in diverse worlds and I believe that all these experiences will be useful to me later on in my life. I particularly enjoy learning the Japanese language and living the lifestyle. Most of my years have been spent in Japan and I have learnt to treat and think of it as my own home, although I know one day I will be going back to Australia. I particularly love going to Y.I.S and have now adapted to life in middle school. I have many friends that care about me and are very supportive and kind. I have enjoyed every year here in Japan and it only gets better as each day passes! Rachael

In English class, we all worked together to make a display that had to answer the question “What makes Roald Dahl a good story teller?” This display required a lot of cooperation and team work within the group to get it done in three lessons. I think I worked well, and managed my time wisely. I helped a lot with the printing, pasting and cutting. I really enjoyed seeing how much we could accomplish if we work together and help each other out! We first chose our”president” which turned out to be Walter. The leader was chosen by people voting for which idea of the setting out we liked best. I had the highest vote of all the girls and became vice president along with Nick who had the second highest amount of votes from the boys. The “presidents” gave ideas and told people which thing to work on. I think this was a very important part of the process because it helped us to be organised and get things done step by step. I think I was helpful to the team and did a lot of work in making our display look colourful and attractive to readers. I also think we answered the question to the best of our ability. Not only did we provide the relevant information, we also incorporated additional material that we thought would be interesting for people to see, such as pictures and biography’s. The thing we did best in this display was explaining the different techniques Roald Dahl uses in his writing that gives him the ability to not only engage children but also people of many ages. I think that our group worked very cooperatively with each other and helped one another in different parts of the display from decorating, to finding information or even computer problems that might have stopped us from accomplishing certain parts of the setting! Overall, I think we did a great job and used a lot of creativity in our work that was interesting for other people to see. I have enjoyed making this display and it was great to have the opportunity of working along side my fellow classmates. I think we made a great impact as a team and hope to experience a new challenge with them soon.

Hello,
I think that we should definitely have field trips because it helps us learn new things and the experiences we have can become great memories that we might treasure forever! It is also a great way for us to communicate with different people and respect and understand religions of the world.
